October with CinemaAttic – Colombia is coming to Edinburgh! 🇨🇴🍁

We have an exciting new month ahead of us, and, with darker, shorter days ahead, what better way to spend your evenings than cosy nights filled with brilliant Ibero-American cinema? 🤩

In fact, CinemaAttic is coming with a new exciting programme for the month of October!

First, thank you to everyone who joined us for our September events, where we screened Frontera at the GFT and Filmhouse and hosted the season’s first Q&As with director Judith Colell.

Moreover, we inaugurated our new venue, the South Leith Parish Church Hall, with our Spanish Short Film Programme, “Young Hearts, Strange Worlds”!

We hope you enjoyed the screenings, your opinion matters to us. If you have two minutes, it would be amazing if you could take our survey and help us improve our events at CinemaAttic.

This month, we have the second session of our Morningside Film Club, which will take place on Tuesday 6th of October.

This month’s session will focus on our Colombia, Presente! programme. Tickets are free, tea and coffee are on us!

We are also screening our Spanish Short Film Programme, “Young Hearts, Strange Worlds” again, but this time in Glasgow, on the 8th of October.

October’s Back: Young Hearts, Strange Worlds brings together seven short films about young people standing at the edge of change, caught between the worlds they inherit and the ones they dream into existence. Tickets available HERE.

We are also super excited to bring Colombia’s vibrant film scene to Edinburgh! 🇨🇴

This year, Colombia was shaken by devastating earthquakes, bringing tragedy and loss to communities across the country. Yet Colombia continues to move forward, carrying its grief while holding on to the hope of healing and overcoming.

“Presente!” is both a declaration and a response. It is the voice of a generation saying: we are here, we remember, we question, we imagine, we continue.

With this programme, we bring together new and emerging voices from Colombia’s vibrant film scene alongside established auteurs, including Theo Montoya, whose new short Pelotón Trueno (Thunder Platoon) premiered in the Official Short Film Competition at the Cannes Film Festival, and Leinad Pájaro de la Hoz, whose Un pájaro voló premiered and won at Berlinale.

Across six contemporary short films, Colombia emerges through bodies, landscapes, memory, desire and conflict — but also through music, humour, imagination and tenderness. Tickets available HERE.

We hope to see you there!
