Saturday 7 December. From 6pm – Lauriston Hall , Edinburgh

We are going to cook a paella. While the rice gets done, a series of performances will happen… We bring together Catalan and Scottish musicians, performers and poets for a unique evening not to be missed. Arts and gastronomy meet in this unmissable evening. A paella performance in which we will enter as individuals but we will leave as a collective.

  • Catalan & Scots poets with Neu! Reekie!
  • Spoken word
  • Marc Sempere, Barcelona based artist and activist
  • Noelia Diaz-Vicedo. Poet, translator and researcher of women’s literature and feminism
  • Gonzalo, the man behind the famous Lovely Paellas you find in Grassmarket and Stockbridge markets
  • Yes, we will eat together the most delicious paella you ever tried (veggie and traditional options)

The oral tradition is the basis on which the Barcelona-based collective Compartir Dóna Gustet (Sharing is Caring) works. Their events have become the launchpad for flamenco revolutionary enfant terrible El Niño de Elche and indie favourites Maria Arnal and Marcel Bagès.

Compartir Dóna Gustet (Sharing is Caring) is a collective born eight years ago with the intention of studying the connections between the ways of transmitting the oral tradition and the possibilities offered by the internet and new technologies.

They work through music, audiovisuals, performance, cinematographic language, organizing talks, festivals, many paellas… Always looking to generate community with other groups and associations.

For the very first time they will be in Scotland and we’re teaming up with their natural response in Scotland, the famous noisemakers Kevin Williamson and Michael Pedersen from Neu Reekie! With their help we will offer a night of live poetry, music and performance from both Scots and Catalan avantgarde leading artists.
