Cànain in the Scottish Gaelic language means: Language Gaya in the Guna Dule language means: Mouth; language; word; cost. 🗣️ This programme of six short films is timed to coincide with the early stages of the UN International Decade of Indigenous Languages (2022 – 2032) and the annual celebration of linguistic diversity, International Mother Language Day (21 February). Who’s joining us tomorrow at @cca_glasgow for a Who’s joining us tomorrow at @cca_glasgow for a double screening of Marta Rodríguez‘s trailblazing cinema? 😍 We are delighted to be joined by Dr María Antonia Vélez Serna (University of Stirling) and Dr Andrei Gomez-Suarez (University of Winchester) for a panel discussion after the films. 🗣️ Marta Rodríguez has spent decades gathering the voices, experiences, and cosmogonies of the peasant and indigenous peoples of Colombia, in some of the areas where coca and poppy are grown. Some events leave a good feeling inside the organi Some events leave a good feeling inside the organisers that grows bigger as time passes after the event is finished. This, without question, was one of them. The film was a real treat and a privilege to watch as it was meant to be watched, on a big screen, the intro by Charlotte Gleghorn was a master class. The audience was the right one and the venue invited to enjoy the event with is quirkiness and absolute charm. Thank you for those who made it and to the Edinburgh film and video society for letting us do (sorry about drinking your wine that wasn’t part of the event 🥹). Remember there are still another 3 screenings of Marta Rodriguez’s work coming this week.
