Join us for a Mediterranean Summer Special film season featuring great independent Spanish cinema to brighten up your staycation.

A selection of films that include festival favourites and most of the big winners at the Goya Awards 2021. We recover some of the brilliant films that were part of the Catalan Film Festival and add some of our favourite Spanish films of the year. A selection of seven gorgeous films that couldn’t be shown in Scotland in the past year due to the pandemic, and will now feature in Scotland’s favourite cinemas: Filmhouse Edinburgh, Glasgow Film Theatre and the Institut Francais d’Ecosse.

A first-class selection of cinema, from mesmerising, visually stunning cinematic experiences (Lua Vermella, My Mexican Bretzel) to key films to rethink a political, ethical, social and emotional memory of contemporary Spain (Josep, The Year of the Discovery). Two great documentaries (Can You Hear Me?, La Nova Escola), and the winner of the 2021 Goya Award for Best Film: Las Niñas (Pilar Palomero) the latest gem from a long list of brilliant child-focused Spanish films.
