Ahead of the screening of the screening of Júlia Ist later on Monday (18:00 Andrew Stewart Cinema) Director DoP, Co-writer and producer Pol Rebaque discuss the making of the film.
He will share the personal story behind Jùlia Ist, a film that started as a student final year project and became an internationally acclaimed directorial debut.
How far can you go with final year project? This Masterclass will investigate how to use personal stories and direct filmmaking. How much can be exposed? How much of your personal life are you risking? How far the filmmaker should go?
The story of Jùlia Ist comes from a desire to portray a youth experience in a very direct and immediate way, says Elena Martin.
While studying at a public university in Barcelona, and even though the idea of making a first feature film seemed impossible, four 21 year-old friends decided to tell a story about their first time living abroad away from their families and homes. A very intimate picture of their time on Erasmus.
