Interweaving rare archival materials, testimonies, music, sound recordings and experimental excerpts, the film acknowledges the power of songs and the search for social transformations by diverse movements. Based on in-depth research and testimonies by musicians from Chile, Portugal, France, Germany, Finland, and Japan, it delves into the different uses and meanings this anthem has achieved worldwide.

Martin Farías (director)
Martin is a musicologist and documentary filmmaker. Master’s in creative Documentary from the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona. He has co-directed the documentaries Más cerca de la luz (2014), Canción norteña (2017), Our Voices Resound (2018) and Dolores (2020). More recently, he directed Himno (2023). He currently lives in Chile and he works as a postdoctoral researcher at the Faculty of Communication and Image at the University of Chile.

Eileen Karmy (producer)
Eileen is a socio-musicologist and audiovisual producer. She is associate professor at the Department of Integrated Arts of the Art Faculty of the Universidad de Playa Ancha (UPLA), in Valparaíso, Chile. She has participated in either co-directing or conducting research for the documentaries Buenos Aires por la capital (2011), Más cerca de la luz (2014), Canción norteña (2017), Our Voices Resound (2018) and Himno (2023).
