CinemaAttic Glasgow: I Just Want to Get Away

Spanish & Latin- American Short-film nights. A powerful curated selection of short films all with English subtitles with networking breaks for the enjoyment of both the Ibero-American community and the cinema lovers alike.

Every CinemaAttic Night has to be different from the previous one. To this mantra, if last month we wanted you to dive deep in relationships now we seek the opposite: Break away. All our cinemaattic characters are trying to get away this month. Just like you. Some of these castaways will get into extreme sports, call a meeting with General Francisco Franco, arrange a marriage of convenience or simply retire to their dwelling place.

They all run away. The Mayor of Benidorm in the fifties, a Croat migrant escaping from his war torn hometown, a retired fishermen and a bunch of small time crooks. No matter how big the obstacles may be they’ll keep running as fast as they can.

And yet we maintain the formula. We rescue gems from early 2000, pioneers of short films. We like to call them ‘clasicos’ and they are essential to understand how the short film industry has been developing through the last ten years. This month’s classic pick is ‘Padam’, now that migration has become a hot topic we rescue this love story that once took place in Madrid, when Tinder didn’t exist…

We offer you a cheapest and handier option, book a ticket, get yourself a beer and seat back. CinemaAttic’s back!
