CHILE 50 YEARS ON – Film 1976 by Manuela Martelli

This September 11 marks the anniversary of 1973, when Chile suffered a break in democracy and severe violations of human rights. The military coup that happened then toppled President Salvador Allende and ushered in a repressive military dictatorship that went on for nearly two decades. In honor of this somber day, we must recall the people who were hurt by Pinochet’s rule. There were countless victims of torture, kidnappings, and killings without a trial. Families were broken apart, and today the repercussions of that dark time are still reverberating through our society.

On the 14th we will have a live debate with 2 victims of the Dictadura and the screening of the film 1976 by Manuela Martelli.
