MEDITERRANEO| THE MAN WHO BOTTLED THE SUN + FREE PAELLA
How did the Benidorm tourism madness start?
“THE MAN WHO BOTTLED THE SUN’ by Óscar Bernàcer is a documentary film digging in the myths and legends behind Benidorm. To investigate this unique socio-economic phenomenon we propose to do it properly. If we are to talk about Benidorm and Valencia we need Paella. A demonstration workshop on how to make the perfect paella will take place before the film.
Director Óscar Bernàcer will be present to talk about his ideas on filmmaking and his study of the Benidorm tourism phenomenon
THURSDAY 6 DECEMBER AT OLD ST PAUL’S
6pm – Paella workshop and free paella
7pm – Film starts (Paella eating time)
THE FILM – THE MAN WHO BOTTLED THE SUN
The Man Who Bottled the Sun tells the amazing story of how Benidorm became a major tourist resort thanks to Pedro Zaragoza, the legendary Mayor with a Vespa. This unique man was able to create a modern city out of nothing, turn it into a leisure playground for the middle class, and then pitch it from London to Lapland with marketing strategies that still seem incredible even today. Did it all really happen?
