Dancer María “La Serrana” studied with great Maestros such as Matilde Coral, Manuela Carrasco, Manolete and Carmen Ledesma. But who knows flamenco well, will see that she is a dancer of the Farruco legacy. She owes her style mostly to Farruquito, who she studied with during eight years. To get to a level of belonging to the in-crowd of Seville, and being able to dance pure and gipsy flamenco, she had to go very deep into her soul, and overcome many hurdles. But because of these difficulties and the fight she fought, her style got to be pure intense and fierce yet very sensual
“Hombros de Hércules” (the shoulders of Hércules) is both an ode to her maestros who inspire her every day, as a toast to the brilliant artists that accompany her in this tour. Singers Juan José Amador and Pepe de Pura are the most demanded singers for dance at the moment, and have been so for many years now. Guitarist Luis Amador is the centre of the company, very loyal to La Serrana over the past twelve years. He is a excellent example of good Amador dance-accompaniment For this project she takes the young dancer Antonio Moreno “Polito”.with her, who is the cousin of Farruquito, formed in his style as only family can be. A breath of fresh air in the company. This sparkling company will bring lovely and intense flamenco –evening, without any unnecessary embellishment, with only the essence of flamenco and respect for tradition with a very personal touch.
For this show we want to contact with one or two local artists, and invite them to our show, to create together and on many different levels a beautiful flamenco evening. We thing, that with these Hercules’, who are very kind hearted too, everybody with skills will be able to dance real flamenco, and get their feelings across to the public
